    Kimono Alleyway offers traditional kimono hire, professional kimono dressing experience and cultural corporate events that blend Japanese tradition.

    We are based in Coogee, Sydney, Australia.
  1. How long does it take to be dressed in a kimono?
    It takes approximately 1 hour for females, and 20 minutes for males.
    Bridal kimono dressing takes about 2 hours.
  2. How much will it cost to rent a kimono?
    Prices range from $130 (yukata) to $1,400 (wedding kimono).
  3. When should I return the rental kimono?
    Please return it by the end of the day. (Next day return option is also available.)
  4. Do I have to pay extra if the rental kimono gets dirty or damaged?
    We may take part or all of your deposit to cover dry-cleaning or repair fees if the kimono becomes dirty or torn.
  5. What should I do if the kimono gets dirty?
    Please contact us first and do not wash the kimono.
    Avoid using alcohol disinfectant, wet wipes, or hot water.
  6. Do you have a catalog where I can see the kimonos?
    We are in the process of making it. In the meantime, feel free to ask us about our kimono selection – we will send photos upon request.
  7. Who can wear a kimono at weddings?
    ・Bride & Groom: Wedding Kimono
    ・Mother: Black formal kimono (Kuro-tomesode)
    ・Guests & Family: Formal Kimono(men & women), Furisode(unmarried women), Hakama
  8. How do I go to the bathroom while wearing a kimono?
    Lift each sides of the kimono one at a time, and tuck the fabric into the upper part of the obi belt.
  9. Why are the prices different?
    We have many types of kimonos, and the price reflects the material(silk, cotton, polyester, etc), how long it takes to be dressed, and occassion. Yukatas which are casual cotton kimonos, are the best value and quickest to get dressed in. The highest priced kimono is a wedding kimono.
  10. How far in advance do I need to make a booking?
    We require at least 2 weeks notice, but you are welcome to book earlier.
  11. Do I need to meet you in advance of the kimono hire day?
    You can finalize your choices through messages or during a 30 minute Zoom meeting – either option works perfectly, so there is no need to meet in person.
  12. Can you specify the location for kimono dressing?(and is there an additional charge?)
    Yes, We can travel to your location for an additional fee. Please enquire in advance so we can arrange it.
